Heim is a research project on the spatial integration of refugees in Belgium.

It examines the different stages of housing for refugees in Belgium and how they contribute spatially to integration in society.

Today, asylum reception is often isolated from public life. Contact between the general population and refugees is thus avoided. The lack of a network makes it difficult to find a home once recognised.

Heim translates this analysis into advice: 1. Provide possibilities for interaction in addition to living, 2. Provide more flexible forms of living.

The research was published in the form of a paper and exhibited in, among others, the Singel in Antwerp in 2017 and the Krook in Ghent in 2018.
